Little Free Library Sponsorship Program

Terms and Conditions

This program to sponsor Little Free Libraries is limited in nature and may be withdrawn at any time. An application for such a sponsorship does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

We limit the program to one sponsorship per neighborhood, in order to maximize the benefit of the program.

The Friends of the Richardson Public Library are not responsible for the assembly or installation of the Library. Following local codes (either municipal or HOA) is the responsibility of the group(s) that installs the Library.

The organization accepting the sponsorship must commit to assembling and installing the kit within 60 days, unless written permission to extend this period is granted by the Friends. In short, please do not apply for a sponsorship if you don’t already know who is going to build it and where it will be installed. Kits that are not assembled and installed in a timely fashion must be returned to the Friends.

The Friends of the Richardson Public Library is not responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the Library or for the books inside, after our initial contribution of a starter set of books.

Acceptance of a Friends of the Richardson Public Library Little Free Library sponsorship affirms that your organization accepts the following conditions:

  • You provide email addresses to the Friends of your organization’s officers, along with consent to be notified by the Friends of Friends-related activities (e.g., book sales, Trash Bash, Wildflower!) (Note that we will not provide your email addresses to any other organization)
  • You grant permission for the Friends to take and use one or more photos of your Library after installation
  • You grant permission to the Friends to use your organization’s name in our media releases (note, we will not release the physical address of the Library’s location, only the neighborhood)

The Friends of the Richardson Public Library

The Friends of the Richardson Public Library, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, is a service organization dedicated to the mission of helping the Richardson Public Library and its staff be a critical educational and cultural resource for the City and its broader service area. The FOL accomplishes its mission both through direct gifts to the Library and through service-focused activities. These gifts and services enable the Library to go “over and above” its budget to be able to deliver superior services to the residents of the City of Richardson, the Richardson Independent School District, and the Library’s multi-county service area.

The FOL “recycles” tens of thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, and other material each year, raising thousands of dollars for the Library while keeping valuable printed and electronic media out of the landfill. The FOL participates in or partially funds community activities, such as the Wildflower! Festival, Trash Bash, the annual Christmas Parade, and Santa’s Village. The FOL also supports staff-focused activities such as sponsoring lunches, attendance at book-related events, and an annual college scholarship for a teen volunteer.
